FAQs

WHAT KIND OF GRANT ASSISTANCE DOES THE COUNTY OFFER?

The county is often the first place local non-profit community groups look for assistance in funding projects. Since the County believes in supporting local, sustainable, community-oriented projects, Big Lakes County proudly offers several types of annual grants to local non-profit organizations. But it does not stop there…

Big Lakes is dreaming big! And we want your organization to dream big, too! In addition to county grants, you may find endless possibilities for external funding (from the Provincial & Federal governments, from the private sector, from partner organizations with similar mandates) and outside-the-box fundraising ventures. We want to help you discover your potential!

WHY ARE GRANTS IMPORTANT FOR MY ORGANIZATION?

Grants, whether publicly or privately funded, can assist your organization in reaching your financial goals.  A grant may be used to complement your existing funds or even leverage your funds to increase your eligibility for additional funding.

WHEN SHOULD WE APPLY FOR A GRANT?

Grant deadlines vary depending on the type, amount and the funder.  Applications will indicate the deadline date.  However, there are usually grant cycles based on budgetary and/ or administrative constraints.  Often applications are due between March – June or between September – December. Most funders’ fiscal year end is December 31st.  A good rule of thumb…apply early!
