Lesser Slave Lake


The largest road-accessible lake in Alberta, Lesser Slave Lake, provides fishers with year round catches.

Access: Lesser Slave Lake can be accessed in the County along Highway 2 through many of the lakeshore communities, including Grouard, Joussard, Faust, and near Kinuso. Boat launch access is available at numerous private locations along the lake as well as a public access point at Hilliard's Bay Provincial Park.

Campsites: Campsite locations are available for seasonal and overnight use along the lake. Read more

Snipe Lake

Although largely popular for Pike and Perch, Walleye can also be found at Snipe Lake. This shallow lake has numerous productive spots, just ask the locals.

Access: With two access points, Snipe Lake is easy to get to. Travel west through High Prairie or come from the south through Valleyview and turn east off Highway 747 to access the great fishing location. Boat access is available at both South Shore Resort and Snipe Lake Community Campground.

Campsites:South Shore Resort located on the southern shores has 120 sites with numerous recreational facilities to meet your needs as well as fishing and camping supplies. Snipe Lake Community Campground is located on the northeastern shores of Snipe Lake and provides unserviced camping and boat access.

 Winagami Lake


Although shallow, this lake is home to Northern Pike, Whitefish and Yellow Perch. It provides ample opportunities for both summer and winter fishing.

Access: Winagami Lake is northwest of the Town of High Prairie and can be accessed by Highway #679. The Lake offers public beach access, a day use area, and a boat launch site at Winagami Lake Provincial Park.

Campsites: Winagami Lake Provincial Park has camping facilities including electrical hookups, showers, and a group camping area.
