Council for Big Lakes County is considering a proposed amendment to the Big Lakes County Land Use Bylaw No. 03-2017. The purpose of proposed Bylaw No. 06-2018 is to incorporate the Airport Protection Overlay District into the Land Use Bylaw.
Copies of the proposed Land Use Bylaw Amendment may be examined in the office of the County Administration Building between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Any person, group of persons, or person representing them who claims to be affected by the proposed bylaw amendment may make an oral or written submission to Council for consideration. If you would like to make a presentation to Council, contact Big Lakes County at 780-523-5955.
The Public Hearing will be held on July 25, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Big Lakes County Administration Office. Council will consider any oral or written presentations with respect to the proposed Land Use Bylaw amendment.

Pale Yellow Iris has been confirmed within our borders. While this is cause for concern, Big Lakes County Agricultural Services is only interested in raising awareness, finding all the locations this plant may be in, and removing the plant properly. To do this effectively, we need the help of our ratepayers!

Notice is hereby given that annual Pest Inspections will commence July 23rd, 2018 and will continue into September of 2018. Surveys conducted include: Fusarium, Blackleg, Clubroot, and Grasshopper
During these surveys, Agricultural Services Staff will be accessing privately held land during reasonable hours, as per the Agricultural Pests Act, Section 17(2) and (3). All inspectors will be in marked Big Lakes County vehicles and will present identification upon request.
